At the close of Saturday’s qualification, the NERDs were seeded in the top position, and chose an alliance of Team 33, the Killer Bees from Notre Dame Prep in Auburn Hills and Rookie Team 4294, StarTREC from SRT & The Early College at Lansing Community College in Saginaw. Working as an effective alliance, the three teams won the competition after seven well-played matches.

The Engineering Inspiration Award is the second highest honor that FIRST® bestows on Teams.

The EngiNERDs were recognized for their efforts in robot performance, philanthropic efforts, demonstrations, workshops, Going Green and global outreach with NERDo and NERDette. The Team will now go on to compete for the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Michigan State Championship in April.

Welcome to Rebound Rumble!

2 alliances of three teams compete against each other on the field which is called the Court. During the first 15 seconds, known as the Hybrid Period, robots are controlled either autonomously or one of the robots on each alliance can be controlled by using the Microsoft Kinect. After this time, drivers of each team assume the controls of their robot. Teams score points by shooting foam basketballs into one of four hoops on their side of the court. Then teams can also score points by getting on bridges and balancing on it either by them self or with another robot on their alliance. On the middle bridge, one robot from each alliance tries to balance on it cooperatively to earn coopertition points.

Our Extra Life gaming marathon was host to more than 50 students, mentors, friends, and family from four FIRST Robotics Teams, representing more than six schools.

Want to make a donation, but weren't able to prior to the gaming marathon? Extra Life is still open to accept donations, so please head over to our fundraising page by clicking on the icon on the right.
