Week 2 at Premier Tooling
Entry 1: Starting to Build
So! The first two weeks of build season are over, and, moving into week 3, the EngiNERDs are still leaps and bounds ahead of the progress we had made by this time last year. The newbs (no offense intended, to be sure...though I suppose I could use the Politically Correct term, "Littles") are doing a GREAT job of working! The new organizational systems are making things run a lot more smoothly than last season. Overall, things are going well. The three main mechanical groups are all working quickly and getting things done. It's the beginning of week three and fabrication on (at least semi-) final parts for the mechanisms is getting ramped up. We still have a long way to go, but we've only been doing this for two weeks. As I said before, the progress ASTOUNDS me.
The prospect of being so far ahead is exciting, because it gives us a LOT more leeway for re-designs and design tweaks. My hopes are that by the time ship date rolls around, we'll have been able to spend a lot more time thinking about and changing around our robot's design to fit. Besides that, we might actually be able to test this year! The idea of that makes me smile.
Hopefully, as the season continues, we'll see the same amount of progress that we'res seeing right now.
